Quote: Marymount aims at fostering self-directed learning, which we define as both the process and impact on the learners of developing the metacognitive capacity to autonomously for growth when gaining the understanding, attitudes, competencies, and values needed to be the agents of their lifelong learning process.

I think this quote is the best one for me because it tells us that we should be capable of having an autonomous way of learning based on our own experience. All of us see ourselves as learnersseeking and engaging in life experiences with a learning attitude and believing in our ability to learn. It has been proven that if a person does not believe they can learn, they will not learn.

  1. Interesting reflection...so in order to be a self-directed learning you have to believe in your capacity to learn. Do you think that self-directed learning is a skill we can teach? How can we teach it? Do you think we are fostering self-directed learning at Marymount?
