Learner Identity Quote
Quote:
Marymount aims at fostering self-directed learning, which we define as both the process and impact on the learners of developing the metacognitive capacity to autonomously recognize the strengths and opportunities for growth when gaining the understanding, attitutes, competencies, and values needed to be the agents of their lifelong learning process.
My learner identity can be identified with the previously quote, because I considered that
Through the years i`ve manage the skill of " Self Learning". When im interested in a topic that is unknown of me, I always have the willingness and the mental capacity of self taught.
Interesting. So from your post it seems that you have had experience with self-directed learning as you have "taught" yourself things in the past. Do you think self-directed learning is the same as self-teaching? Can you teach yourself something and not be a self-directed learner? What do you think? Does this definition of self-directed learning capture what you have experienced as a self-directed learner?
